About

Our Story

Full Power was founded by Oliver Cridge, a mechanical and marine engineer with more than 30 years of international engineering experience across the maritime, oil and gas, industrial, automotive, HVAC, mining, renewable energy and off-grid power sectors. But Full Power is not simply the product of a long engineering career. It is the product of thousands of miles spent offshore, where energy management was never an abstract technical problem but a daily determinant of safety.

As Founder and CEO, Oliver brings together decades of engineering expertise with hands-on offshore experience gained through commercial marine operations, yacht deliveries and long-distance ocean passages. Across his career he has accumulated more than 450 days at sea through commercial maritime operations and approximately 15,000 offshore sailing miles through blue-water passages and double-handed sailing.

His offshore résumé includes a double-handed trans-Atlantic passage aboard SV Jubilation from England to Saint Lucia, offshore passages aboard SV Lochmarin through the Indian Ocean and Bay of Bengal, and time aboard SV Lacrima through the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden. These were not brief coastal trips. Many of these voyages involved 20 to 40 days without landfall or shore support, demanding complete self-sufficiency in navigation, maintenance, energy management and fault diagnosis. When you are weeks from the nearest port, you learn quickly what a boat's systems can and cannot handle, and what happens when they fail.

The Philosophy: Energy Equals Safety

It was through these experiences that Oliver developed the philosophy that continues to drive Full Power today: energy equals safety.

When operating offshore for extended periods, energy becomes one of a vessel's most critical resources. Every amp-hour consumed must be replaced, and every litre of fuel used for battery charging is fuel that may later be needed to avoid weather, reach shelter or safely enter port. There is no simple way to resupply mid-ocean. What is on board is what you have to work with.

Much of Oliver's expertise in marine energy systems was built through practical offshore experience rather than theory alone. Living with traditional lead-acid battery technologies, inefficient charging systems and limited energy reserves made the connection between energy efficiency, vessel reliability and operational safety impossible to ignore. Early offshore passages relied heavily on conventional lead-acid systems that required extended generator and engine run times just to maintain navigation equipment, communications, refrigeration and other essential onboard systems. These experiences exposed how much energy was being wasted, and how heavily a vessel's independence depended on how efficiently it stored and used power.

That realisation shaped a lasting passion: capture every available watt of energy, store it as efficiently as possible, and build practical redundancy into every critical onboard system.

From Offshore Lessons to Advanced Energy Systems

What began as a focus on efficient charging and energy storage has grown into a broader vision for vessel electrification, hybrid propulsion and energy independence.

Today, Full Power designs integrated energy ecosystems that combine high-capacity lithium energy storage, advanced charging technologies, renewable energy integration, intelligent power management and remote monitoring systems. The objective behind every project is the same: reduce engine run time, maximise energy capture, increase comfort, improve reliability and create redundancy.

This philosophy is currently being demonstrated through one of Full Power's most ambitious projects to date, the complete hybrid-energy transformation of S/Y Desert Rose, a Lagoon catamaran undergoing a major power-system modernisation. The project combines large-scale lithium energy storage, high-output charging systems, advanced power management and electric propulsion technologies designed to dramatically increase energy efficiency while reducing dependence on traditional diesel-powered generation. Charging capabilities on board have evolved from conventional systems measured in only a few kilowatts to modern high-power charging architecture capable of recovering significant amounts of energy in a fraction of the time.

For Oliver, projects such as Desert Rose represent the next stage in marine energy evolution. Rather than simply generating more power, the focus is on capturing energy more effectively, storing it more efficiently and using it more intelligently. The result is quieter operation, reduced fuel consumption, lower maintenance costs, greater onboard comfort and increased independence from shore-based infrastructure.

Looking Beyond Marine

While Full Power's foundations are firmly rooted in the marine sector, the underlying principles apply just as directly to other environments. The lessons learned across thousands of offshore miles translate naturally to off-grid homes, expedition vehicles, RVs, remote facilities and energy-resilient infrastructure of all kinds. Wherever reliable support is not guaranteed, the same fundamentals apply.

Whether at sea or on land, Full Power's mission remains unchanged: capture every available watt, store it efficiently, eliminate waste, build redundancy, and deliver reliable energy systems that continue operating when support is unavailable.

Our Approach

Oliver's engineering philosophy is built on more than professional qualifications and decades of industry experience. It is grounded in real-world lessons learned offshore, where energy management, redundancy and system reliability directly influenced the safety and success of the journey. That grounding shapes how Full Power approaches every project, whether it is a full vessel electrification, a targeted upgrade to an existing charging system, or an off-grid power solution designed for a remote home or facility.

Full Power does not design energy systems around best-case assumptions. Systems are designed around the conditions that matter most, the ones where support is limited, margins are tight and reliability cannot be compromised. It is an approach shaped at sea, and it applies with equal weight wherever energy independence genuinely matters.
